in the spring of 1999, i was watching a program where a woman had taken what she knew (adult entertainment) and turned it into an empire online. suddenly a light bulb went off in my head and i thought to myself - why couldn't I do the same? i took what i knew - clothes and a crazy knowledge of pop culture - and launched fashionTeen.com in july of that same year.

the beginning was rough. I think back to those days when I didn't even know how to set up an email account, much less program html. originally the plan was to launch a site that featured models in clothing that you could then purchase the clothing direct from the site. after realizing I had neither the money for inventory, nor the storage space, I tweaked the model to be content driven and we sold ad space. I brought on some strong people to help with writing, photography and other tasks and we were off!

in may 2000, we experienced a lucky break. we had worked closely with a company that only did publicity for artists online. this company landed the account for britney spears' second album and they came to us to help with the publicity. through a series of amazing opportunities, fashionTeen.com was the first web site online to feature photos from Britney's second album and overnight our traffic went from 30,000 unique visitors to more than 400,000!

fashionTeen.com was an amazing opportunity for me.  it was my first company and I learned so much from developing it and running the day to day operations. in january 2002, after several amazing years working with and featuring such celebrities as N*sync, mandy moore, the backstreet boys, madonna, christina aguilera, sarah michelle ellar, jennifer lopez, katie holmes, reese witherspoon and so many more - I sold fshionTeen.com so that I could focus on new projects.
