through my association with mega muscle, i have had several various encounters with playgirl magazine. two models that I discovered, julian fantechi and derrick davenport, were back to back men of the year for the magazine. I have produced multiple shoots for the magazine with several different photographers.

the one that stands out the most is a shoot entitled "the spy". the reason this production is worth noting is that it has the distinction of being the most expensive shoot ever produced for playgirl magazine! I am not sure how we got approval to do it but it ended up costing more than any of their man of the year shoots, more than the college specials, more than any of their celebrity shoots.

the production, shot by schwabel studio, was a two day, multi-location production. from the hollywood hills to malibu, we re-created a james bond-esque shoot complete with explosions, "bond girls", multiple wardrobe changes, guns, sports cars and a special appearance by a sea lion!

unfortunately, due to some interesting editorial choices, the issue did not come out to coincide with the release of "casino royale" as originally discussed (some photographer/editorial problems), and when it was published, much of the work that had gone into it was not included. the good news is that the entire production was captured on dvd and is included on a special release DVD available from amazon.com
